Uncle MAX
I remember all of us kids being afraid of Uncle Max when we were growing up. I say this to lead into my story. We used to spend the night with you all whenever we got the chance because we would get to stay up late and play games and have all kinds of fun. One of these times when I was about 9 or 10, we all wanted to go to the movies but everyone was afraid to ask Uncle Max. Finally it was decided I would go ask him because Brenda, Max, Jennifer and Ed decided He liked me best and we would have better luck if I asked. I'm not sure where that reasoning came from. He was reading the paper sitting on the couch and I went in and sat down beside him. With my heart in my throat after about 5 minutes I asked him what he was reading. Without glancing my way, moving the paper or anything, he says "They sent you in here to ask me something didn't they" I told him yes and then he said with a little chuckle, well what do they want? I asked him and I don't even remember his answer but whatever it wads I simply said OK and went back to the others. Thinking back now it seems so very trivial, but somehow I felt closer to him after that.
Another time we were all down in Tennessee in August like we used to do and I was standing in the living room, when all of a sudden Uncle Max popped me on the bottom and said Listen when I talk to you! I turned around really quick and said OK I'm sorry I didn't hear you. He then started apologising & Laughing and said he was sorry he thought I was BRENDA!
Uncle Max really was good to all of us and he was very good at fixing things. He always attended family get to-gethers and was a big part of them for as long as I can remember. He had a big booming voice, but the heart of a teddy bear and I truly loved him!!
