Obituary for
Max V. Drinnon
Max Vernell Drinnon, age 86 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Hospice of Dayton. He was born in Sneedville, Tennessee on April 16, 1926 the son of Glenn B. & Willie Mae (Overton) Drinnon. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1948 to 1950. He worked at NCR for 26 years then General Motors for 15 years and retired in 1991. He was an avid hunter with his family and friends and in the early years enjoyed softball, basketball, bowling, and fishing. Max was well known as a “handyman” and someone who could fix anything.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Irene (Southern) Drinnon, 3 sons Fred A. (Joann) Drinnon, Ken “Paul” (Kathy) Drinnon, Max A. (Gerri) Drinnon, a daughter Brenda E. (Roger) Mayfield, stepson Terry (Connie) Monk, 7 grandchildren Jill Creech, Shane Drinnon, Shelly Grooms, Tanya Drinnon, Andrew Mayfield, Joshua Mayfield, and Rachel Drinnon, 9 great grandchildren, 2 brothers Kenneth Drinnon and Bobby Drinnon, 6 sisters Peggy, Elizabeth , Thelma, Mary, Fay and Kay and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 37 years Alma (Newberry) Drinnon, 3 brothers Guy Drinnon, Glenn Billy Drinnon, and Thomas Drinnon, and a sister Imogene Thompson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm in the BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Funeral Home with Pastor David Starry officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
