Malcom Keith "Pete" Campbell
Malcom Keith “Pete” Campbell, age 84 of Vandalia, passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 at Stonespring of Vandalia. He was born on June 20, 1932 in Bulls Gap, Tennessee the son of Jack & Bessie (Draper) Campbell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Amvets Post #99 and the VFW. He retired from General Motors Delco Moraine Plant as a Machine Repairman in 1988 after over 36 years. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and boating over the years. His love for golf lead him to start the “Pete & Bill’s Golf Outing” in Tennessee twice a year for the last 25 years. He most loved spending time and his retirement at his home on Cherokee Lake, TN. where he loved having family and friends gather together for summer holidays get-to-gathers. Malcom is remembered by many for teaching them how to ski and swim.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Esta (Chandler) Campbell, 3 daughters Anita (Keith) Shetter-Johnson, Tina (Brad) Strait, and Kim (Mike) Lowman, 7 grandchildren Justin (Megan) Shetter, Joshua Shetter, Andrew Korbas, Jennifer Korbas, Natasha (David) Baker, Mike Lowman, and Nathan (Cindy) Lowman, 7 great grandchildren Aliyah Mae, Alyxa, Makenna, Jack, Dylan, Conner and Teagan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruby Jean Campbell, and 2 brothers Norman Wayne and Kirby Campbell. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Stonespring for their care and comfort during this most difficult time.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the BLESSING-ZERKLE FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr., Tipp City. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardnes, Tipp City.
