Jack Akers, age 79 of Huber Heights, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012 in Wright Patterson Medical Center. He was born in Cinderella, West Virginia on March 5, 1932 the son of Leonard and Estella Sue (Harold) Akers. He was a 23 year veteran of the U.S. Navy and Air Force. He retired after 20 years with the Army Air Force Exchange Service.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Margaret J. (Miller) Akers, sons Jack (Marjean) Akers and Jeffrey (Marilyn) Akers, grandchildren, and 4 brothers Jerry (Lou) Akers, Andy (Lynn) Akers, Claude Akers, and Leonard Akers Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Freddy and a sister Geraldine.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm in the BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 12:00 pm in the Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City with Pastor Bobbie Predmore officiating.
