Obituary for Joy Suzanne Smith

Joy Suzanne Smith, age 81 of Xenia, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Kettering Medical Center, Dayton. She was born in Dayton on May 5, 1936 the daughter of Roby L. & Eleanor (Painter) Hughes. Joy loved to quilt and go to the library. She was an avid reader of the Dayton Daily Newspaper for many years and loved to read books to her grandchildren. She was most known for her baking especially her Home made biscuits.

She is survived by her 4 children Michael E. Smith, Wendy S. (Timothy) King, Jeffrey R. J. (Brenda) Smith and Deborah J. (John) Lewis; 12 grandchildren Shannon Peck, Michael Smith, Brad Lewis, Ashley Lewis, Andrea Lewis, Olevia Smith, Paige King, Christian King, Daisy King, LaKeisha King, ShyAnne King and Aiden King; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; a sister Fay Plsek and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jacob E. Smith, brother Walter Hughes, an infant brother Bubby Hughes, and a sister Barbara Mavity.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the BLESSING-ZERKLE FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr., Tipp City, Ohio. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
