James E. Lancaster
James E. Lancaster, age 90 of Dayton has taken his final journey on Monday, January 2, 2017 a day after his 90th birthday. He was born in Allegre, Kentucky on January 1, 1927 the son of Cecil & Daisy (Harrison) Lancaster. He was an active member of the Huber Heights First Baptist Church where he served as an usher and was a member of the Happy Hearts. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp where he served in WWII and was a former Post Commander of the VFW Post #657. He was a member of the Painter’s Union and the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his daughter Teresa Johnson, granddaughters Brittany (Matthew) Morgan, Megan Johnson, Tera Johnson, and honorary granddaughter Meredith Gardocki, great grandsons Alex, Hunter, Drew, and Sam, his former wife and lifelong friend Nora Lancaster, and his most precious friend Jann Gregory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law James Johnson and his sister Charlene Mills.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at the Huber Heights First Baptist Church, 5875 Shull Rd., Huber Heights. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the church with Pastor Robert Hooker officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in James’ memory to the Huber Heights First Baptist Church Building Fund, 5875 Shull Rd. Huber Heights, Ohio 45424.
