Obituary for
Charles Marion Moore
Charles M. Moore, age 93 of Vandalia, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lewis County, Kentucky on November 1, 1922, the son of Mark & Etta Mae (Carrington) Moore. He was a veteran of WWII where he served in the U.S Army first in the 37th and in the South Pacific as part of the 41st Infantry Division known as the "Fighting Jungleers." He retired from General Motors. He was a member of the Vandalia Baptist Temple. He loved to play the guitar and mandolin.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Muriel (Duffield) Moore, children Larry (Barbara) Moore, Sharon (Dave) Harrison, Charles (Jody) Moore, Michael Moore, Mark (Linda) Moore, Ruth (Moore) Lawson, Judy (Mike) Carpenter, grandchildren, Michael Goetz, Joseph Rogers, Larry Moore, Mark Moore, Ken Whitson, Sherri Whitson, Christina Gray, Michael Moore, Sara Moore, Patrick Moore, Mary(Molly) Moore, Kevin Moore, Daniel Moore, Jennifer Strehle, Justine Rossman, Brian Lawson, Erin Lawson, Sean Lawson, Jessica Carpenter, many Great and Great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Shirley (Moore) Cox, 3 sisters Arzella Thoroughman, Wilma Audrey Kuhn, Edna Mae Costello, 5 brothers Jesse Eugene Moore, Wilfred Selby Moore, Emery Moore, Mark Moore Jr., James (Infant). The family would like to thank Hospice of Dayton for their care.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the BLESSING-ZERKLE FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr., Tipp City. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastors Dan Lamb and Mark Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Charles’ memory to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420.
