Obituary for Chester Rose

Chester Rose, age 88 of Miamisburg, passed away Monday, August 29, 2016 at Brighton Gardens of Washington Twp.. He was born in Campton, Kentucky on February 14, 1928, the son of Charlie & Rilda (Chrisman) Rose. He was a veteran of WWII where he served in the U.S. Army Air Corp and was stationed in the South Pacific and was an Aerial Photographer. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and a member of the Park View United Methodist Church in Miamisburg. He loved to play the guitar and work in his garden where he raised Rhododendrons and Azaleas and was proud to be a Kentucky Colonel.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet (Mikula) Rose, children Beverly (Mal) Peaso of Dayton, Linda (Paul) Werring of Panama City, Fl., and Michael (Cheri) Rose of Dayton, 7 grandchildren Kristen (Jake), Ashley (TJ), Jeffery (Katy) and Adam all of Washington State, Natalie (Aaron) of Knoxville, Tenn., Molly (Joe) of Hillsboro, and Andy (Jenna) of Miamisburg, 13 great grandchildren, a brother Dan Rose of Gordon, Ala., a twin sister Esther (Don) Thompson of Eldorado and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Duke Rose and 3 sisters Evalena Lincoln, Ivola Gross, and Mary Smith. The family would like to thank all the staff at the VA Medical Center, Brighton Gardens, and Hospice of Dayton for their care and concern during this difficult time.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at the BLESSING-ZERKLE FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Rudisill officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Chester’s memory to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.blessingfh.com.
