John Robert Grooms
John Robert Grooms, age 77 of Huber Heights, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the Laurels of Huber Heights. He was born in Wilmington, Ohio on June 17, 1938 the son of Robert & Dorothy M. (Tomlin) Grooms. He retired from Pitney Bowes after 25 years as a Service Rep.. He was a member of the Indian Lake Eagles and Moose Lodges, the Huber Heights American Legion Post 200, and the 40 and 8 Voyagers.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years Lou (Stufflebeam) Grooms, 3 daughters Vicki L. (Timothy) Grant of Troy, Cindy J. (Douglas) Turner of Beavercreek, Barbara Grooms of Albion, Indiana, a son John R. (Krista) Grooms of Alexandria, Kentucky, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 3 step daughters Regina Toney, Linda Bryant, Galina Cotton, a step son Bill (Robin) Toney, 5 step grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, a brother Charles M. (Kathy) Grooms, and a brother-in-law Mackie “Clem” Lewis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Roberta Lewis.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm in the BLESSING-ZERKLE FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
