Obituary for Ray Estep

Ray Estep, age 90 of Tipp City, and formerly of Dayton, passed Friday, December 13, 2013 in Springmeade Nursing Home, Tipp City, with his family by his side. He was born in Big Stone Gap, Virginia on April 17, 1923 the son of John Jessee & Elizabeth (Hart) Estep. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served in World War II, he was a member of the VFW and also served in the C.C.C. he was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed horse racing.

He is survived by his children Suzanne (William) Henry, Debi Matherly, Brenda Lutz, David Estep, Kimberley Gann, and Larry Cook, 8 grandchildren Jennifer Harshbarger, Bryan Henry, Amanda Luciano, Wyatt Lutz, Lauren Estep, Aaron Logan, Samantha Logan, and Jimmy Gann, 8 great grandchildren Hailie, Hannah, Bryley, Emma, Chelsea, Nick, Autumn, and Lily, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to Thank the nurses and aids at Springmeade for their care and compassion over the past 8 years and also during this difficult time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years Della Estep in 2008, son-in-law John Matherly, and numerous brothers and sisters.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm in the BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Mike Tuttle officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
