Gerald Zimmer, age 77 of Troy, passed away Monday, November 8, 2010 in his residence. He was born in Tipp City, Ohio on April 30, 1933 the son of Karl & Gertrude (Blazer) Zimmer. He graduated in 1951 from Vandalia Butler High School and began farming. He retired from farming in 1990 after 50 years. He was a member of the Troy Eagles Lodge, Troy Moose Lodge, Life member of the Troy & Englewood, Florida Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge, Antioch Shrine, Scottish Rite, and a retired member of Antioch Ambassador Unit. He enjoyed playing tennis and golf.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Elsie (Pearson) Zimmer, son Gregory Lee Zimmer of Troy, daughter Leslie Ellen (Michael) Firlie of Switzerland, granddaughters Renate Ellen Firlie and Mikayla Eve Firlie, 2 brothers Robert L. Zimmer, and Ronald (Jan) Zimmer, sister Norma J. (Warren) Piercey and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am in the BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Pastor Lynn Labs officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
