Obituary for Richard J, Nematz

Richard J. Nematz, age 85 of Huber Heights passed away Saturday, August 7, 2010 in Eaglewood Care Center, Springfield. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 7, 1925 the son of Rudolph & Caroline (Gabarsich) Nematz. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII in the 101st Airborne as a Paratrooper. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, Battle of Bastonne, and Parachuted in behind enemy lines at Normandy on D-Day. He received many awards including a Purple Heart from Battle of the Bulge and 2 Bronze Stars. He was a Boy Scout Leader and formed a troop in Harlem, New York. He was an electrical engineer and worked in Manhatten most of his career. He attended New York University. He was an avid gardener, serious dog lover, and ran circles around most people. His will to live was strong.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Agnes (Ferraro) Nematz, daughter Nancy (Barry) Wilson of Huber Heights, 3 grandchildren Jennifer (Justin) Bracken, Andrew Wilson, and Nathan Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Carl, and a sister Laura.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
